Economically and Effectively Reducing Methane Leakage

Gas stoves are incredibly popular with consumers and are the overwhelming choice of professional chefs. With methene leakage during the off state becoming a concern, Robertshaw set out to find a solution.

Seventy-six percent of methane emissions occur during the steady off state due to the multiple connections between system components—each connection having the potential for leakage. Our patent-pending Master Gas Regulator stops the flow of gas when the appliance is off, preventing it from even entering the system.

The current U.S. agency standard is a maximum leakage of 200 cc/hr (cubic centimeters per hour) per component, with each appliance having multiple components. The new Robertshaw Master Gas Regulator’s electronically controlled positive shutoff at the inlet reduces leakage across the entire system to less than 20 cc/hr in the steady off state. This is 90 percent less than the agency standard.

主要功能

  • Reduces gas leakage across the entire system to 90% below the agency standard.
  • Lockout feature ensures that when the regulator is activated, no gas will be supplied to the stove when it is not in use (even if a knob is accidentally turned on).
  • A pressure sensor can also be added to the downstream portion.
